Why Measuring Personality on a Continuum Matters

When organisations choose a personality tool, often one of the first questions is “Is it easy to understand?”

That makes sense. If people cannot grasp the model quickly, it won’t travel far inside a business. But there is a more important question sitting underneath that one:

Does it measure personality the way personality actually exists?

Because how we measure something shapes how we interpret it. And how we interpret it shapes how we develop it.

Read on to learn:

  • Why personality lives on spectrums, not in boxes.

  • The value of norm groups - and what happens when norms change?

  • The significance of understanding ourselves through difference.

What Does Team Development Look Like in 2026... and Beyond?

At the Facet5 Connect Conference 2025, leaders and practitioners from 17 countries shared insights on how team development is evolving.

One clear message emerged:

Teams today are increasingly dynamic systems, not just static groups.

From these discussions, we identified five key markers of change:

  1. Individual talent → Team system performance

  2. Harmony → Productive difference

  3. Fixed roles → Flexible contribution

  4. Team activities → Continuous team awareness

  5. Performance → Performance and wellbeing

Understanding how people think and work together has never been more important.

New Recruits

Managing new recruits isn't always easy. Or is it?

Here’s a simple activity to try in your next team session.

Split your group into two teams based on their Affection scores - one higher, one lower. And when they present back to the group, the contrast is often revealing.

‘New Recruits’ is a practical team activity to observe and listen to differences without overcomplicating things.

If you want to see exactly how to set it up and debrief it properly, you’ll need the full guide available in the Knowledge Hub.

ETPG - European Test Publishers Group

Back in 1991, eleven European test publishers met in Windsor with a bold ambition: to raise standards in psychological testing across Europe.

That ambition grew into the European Test Publishers Group (ETPG) - now a network of 31 member organisations across 23 countries, shaping best practice and leading important conversations on topics like AI, legislation, and professional standards.

Facet5 is proud to be part of this community, built on shared values of scientific rigour and doing things properly.

This year is especially exciting for us. Our Managing Director, Grant Gemmell, is serving as ETPG President for 2026 - and we’re delighted to be hosting the ETPG Conference this June in Edinburgh.

From Windsor to Edinburgh, the conversation continues - and we’re right at the heart of it.

If you are a European test publisher interested in joining ETPG, you can read about membership on their website here or reach out to us to learn more.

Spot Patterns, Not Flaws

Awareness shouldn’t be about criticism.

We all have patterns in how we think and behave. Noticing them without judgement helps you understand your choices, so you can decide when to lean in and when to shift.

Focusing on flaws keeps you stuck, whilst recognising patterns gives you control. Once you see what repeats, you can interrupt or redirect it. Over time, awareness turns automatic reactions into intentional decisions.
