The Facet5 Team

Why great teams start with self-awareness

There's a common belief that great teams are built through great strategy. Bring smart people together, give them clear goals and a solid plan and collaboration will naturally follow.

But anyone who has experienced a truly exceptional team knows it's not that simple. Great teams don't just perform well - they feel good to be part of.

So what creates that difference?

'0.90 reliability’ – sounds impressive, doesn’t it?

. . . But a big number doesn't automatically mean a tool is useful, predictive or insightful.

Reliability simply tells us that a measure is consistent. It doesn't tell us whether it's measuring something meaningful.

So what does a high reliability score really tell us?

"Can’t I just read the profile myself?”

It’s one of the most asked questions we receive. And, of course, the answer is 'yes'.

But the true value of understanding one’s personality goes far beyond just the content in the profile.

A skilled debrief brings the profile to life, but it's the human connection that makes it truly meaningful. It's what makes the difference - creating a trusted space for reflection, curiosity and honest conversation that no profile can achieve on its own.

So, what does a great debrief add that a profile alone can’t?

Learn to 'let go' gracefully

Letting go is part of evolving. It might mean releasing habits, roles, or relationships that no longer fit who you’re becoming. It isn’t failure, it’s making space for what’s next.

Holding on keeps you stuck, whilst letting go frees your focus.

What could you do if you understood people better?

If you coach people... have better conversations and help clients understand not just what they do, but why.

If you lead people... understand what motivates different people and adapt how you work with them.

If you work in L&D or HR... create a shared language for development that people actually use.

If you work with teams... help people understand their differences before they become problems.

Facet5 Accreditation gives you the framework, tools and confidence to turn that understanding into action.

Could Facet5 be the next skill in your toolkit?
